The setting wasn’t as fancy as a dance hall in a Jane Austen novel, but the enthusiasm and grace of the participants in Saturday’s English country dancing workshop definitely brought an 18th century feel to Chattanooga.

Wow. Audience gasps came again and again as members of the L.A.-based dance company Diavolo swung, slid, tumbled, cart-wheeled, leaped on and off of and somehow actually danced on the deck of a rocking wooden boat that at times tipped to a 90-degree angle. If you were prone to seasickness, the Wisconsin Union Theater might not have been a good place to be Friday night.
